But this year we hope to find something that connects the two different worlds of imagination. In addition to lectures on the Legenda Aurea, the most influential religious book of the European Middle Ages, and on images of the Virgin Mary, two lectures will examine the relationship between theology and natural science using selected examples from history and the Baroque period. Another lecture will be devoted to the Baroque and its ambivalence between festivity and memento mori.
